Heavyweight Performance

A natural compliment to efficient high power amplification is a lightweight high current power supply. Linea's design was produced entirely in house and as such integrates optimally with the amplifiers. This level of integration tends not to be possible if elements of the design are subcontracted to external design consultants who almost certainly have no experience of audio requirements.

One example of this is the ability of the Linea Research power supply to provide enormous dynamic power without the hindrance of control loops and current limiters that would restrict the audio performance. Because the internal resistance of these supplies is so low, the power rails tend not to sag under the extreme demands of low frequency reproduction, directly resulting in tighter, higher definition bass. This leads to amplifier systems that produce an SPL much higher than their RMS power ratings would indicate, during independent testing.

Other attributes such as the ability to work directly from any mains supply in the world without adjustments, ultra small size, low weight and very low heat generation are important for systems that may be destined for use inside loudspeaker cabinets.
